Design Trend: Unexpected Color

If you know me, you know that I love color, and lots of it!  It's not surprising that I love the trend of unexpected color being used in interior design these days.  Would you be brave enough to paint almost an entire room yellow like below? There is a lot going on, but isn't it fabulous? The pink, red, yellow colors dominant the room, but the ikat and animal print fabric still make a strong statement and tie it all together.  I love that this room is so busy, yet still feels comfortable.  The green peeking through the open door is a sign that this home is full of even more color- don't you wish you could peek into that room?

I love this image below, because the bright color is the main event… which is my favorite! Did you notice how the trim, walls, & ceiling are all painted uniformly?  There is no visual break in the color, which is a feast for the eyes!  They even forewent hanging the art on the wall, and chose to lean the art on the side table. This contributes to the fluidity of the color.  The wood table and floors seem even richer with the floor to ceiling color. Perfection!
